NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of "The Highways Act, 1871," that a certified copy of the Assessment List for the WAIPU Highway District has been forwarded to this Office.

SOUTH HEAD SPIT BUOY.

NOTICE is hereby given that during the late gale the South Head Spit Buoy parted from its moorings and is now away. Due notice will be given when the Buoy is again placed.

The North Shore Beacons in line clears the South Head Spit, also the Emma Bank.

IN accordance with the provisions of "The Diversion of Roads Act, 1863," the following Bill, intended to be introduced into the Provincial Council at its next Session, is published for general information.

OPAHEKE ROAD ACT, 1871.

AN ACT to close up certain roads in the Parish of Opaheke, in the County of Eden, in the Province of Auckland, and to authorise the Governor to grant the land occupied by the said roads to Henry Chamberlin, of Auckland, Esquire.

PREAMBLE.

WHEREAS it is expedient to close up the roads mentioned and described in the Schedule A to this Act annexed as being no longer required for public uses. And whereas the said roads so to be closed up as aforesaid pass through certain lands, the property of Henry Chamberlin, of Auckland, Esquire. And whereas it is expedient that the land occupied by the said roads should be granted to the said Henry Chamberlin, his heirs and assigns in fee simple.

Be it therefore enacted by the Superintendent of Auckland by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof as follows :-

ROADS IN SCHEDULE "A" TO BE CLOSED.

  1. From and after the passing of this Act the said roads mentioned and described in the Schedule A to this Act annexed shall be closed and cease to be used for public purposes.

LAND MAY BE GRANTED TO HENRY CHAMBERLIN.

  1. It shall be lawful for His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand to grant the land occupied by the said roads to the said Henry Chamberlin, his heirs and assigns in fee simple upon such terms as to or otherwise as may be deemed advisable.

SHORT TITLE.

  1. The Short Title of this Act shall be "The Opaheke Road Act, 1871."

SCHEDULE "A."

A road 100 links wide, bounding lots 26 and 30 of the parish of Opaheke on the south, and bounding lots 29 and 31 of the said parish on the north.

A road 100 links wide, bounding lot 27 of the said parish on the south, and bounding lot 30 of the said parish on the north.

A road 100 links wide, bounding lots 25 and 28 of the said parish on the west, and bounding lots 24, 27, and 30 of the said parish on the east.

A road 100 links wide, intersecting and traversing lots 29, 31, and 46 of the said parish, as the said roads are delineated on a plan intituled "Opaheke Road Act, 1871," deposited in the Waste Lands Office at Auckland, and therein distinguished by being colored brown, and marked with straight lines and dotted lines inside.

I, THE undersigned, JOHN ROBERT BAYLIS, hereby make application to Register "THE LAURA GOLD MINING COMPANY, REGISTERED," under the provisions of the "Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act, 1865," and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely:-

  1. That the name and style of the Company is the Laura Gold Mining Company, Registered.

  2. The place of operations is at the Moanataiari Creek, at the Thames Goldfield, in the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

  3. The nominal capital of the Company is £6,750 in 6,750 shares of one pound each.

  4. The amount paid up in cash is Nil, and £3375 in partly paid-up shares allotted to the shareholders.

  5. The name of the Manager is JOHN ROBERT BAYLIS.

  6. The office of the Company is at Owen-street, Grahamstown.

  7. The names and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as follows, namely :-
