The City of Adelaide Gold Mining Company; applied for by Benjamin Dunn; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; bounded by the "Great Republic," "Two Fingers" and "De Hirsch’s Lease," Karaka Block; known as the "City of Adelaide" Claim; application dated 23rd May, 1871—R.B. 876.

Robert Hourn; applied for by Thomas J. Allen; 15 years’ lease of 13 acres; bounded on the South by the "Queen of Beauty," on the East by the "Ottawa," and on the North by the "Sailor Prince"; known as the "Quebec Gold Mining Company’s Claim"; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:30 a.m. on 25th May, 1871—R.B. 877.

Charles Hourn; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres abandoned ground, adjoining the "Island Chief" Lease, Tinkers’ Gully, Tararu; held under Miners’ Rights, with right of road to tramway; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:25 p.m., on 25th May, 1871—R.B. 878.

Alexander Bryce Bain; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres, more or less, auriferous quartz, situated at Hape Creek and bounded by the "Standard," "Wandering Star," "New May Moon" and other Claims, Karaka Block; partly held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 2:40 p.m. 25th May, 1871—R.B. 879.

Robert McDonald Scott; 15 years’ lease of 12 acres, bounded by the "Eureka" and "Moanataiari" Leases and "Midnight" Gold Mining Company’s ground, Karaka; partly held under Miners’ Rights and partly abandoned ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:10 a.m. on 26th May, 1871—R.B. 880.

The City of St. Andrews Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by David Philp; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, auriferous quartz, abandoned ground, formerly known as the "Atlantic," "Golden Stream," "New North Clunes" and site of the late "Sir William Wallace" Machine, Karaka; not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 1 p.m., 26th May, 1871—R.B. 881.

Alexander Brodie; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, more or less, auriferous; bounded on the North by the late "Golden Harp," on the South by the "Shamrock Extended" Lease, on the East by the "Unicorn" Lease, and on the West by vacant ground, Karaka Block; not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:30 a.m. on 27th May, 1871—R.B. 882.

Hill; bounded by the "Eureka" and "Kuranui" Gold Mining Companies’ ground; Claim known as the "Pride of Kuranui"; application (R.B. 860) dated 11th May, 1871; withdrawn 18th May, 1871.

I, THE undersigned DAVID PHILP, of Grahamstown, do hereby make application to Register THE QUEEN OF THE MAY GOLD MINING COMPANY REGISTERED, under the provisions of the "Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act, 1865," and the "Mining Companies Limited Liability Amendment Act, 1869 and Amendments," and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely—

  1. The name and style of the Company is The Queen of the May Gold Mining Company Registered.

  2. The place of operations is at the Waio Karaka Creek, at the Thames Goldfield, in the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

  3. The nominal capital of the Company is Twenty-two thousand pounds in Four thousand four hundred shares of £5 each.

  4. The amount paid up is in cash nil, and paid in partly paid-up shares Seventeen Thousand Six Hundred Pounds, being the estimated value of the ground.

  5. The name of the manager is David Philp.

  6. The office of the company is in Davy-street, Grahamstown.

  7. The names and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as follows:
