a-mile south-east of the Falls in Tararu Creek, known as the “A1” Claim, all unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:30 a.m., 21st December, 1870, R. B. 806.

The Flying Cloud Gold Mining Company Limited; applied for by Albert Beetham; 15 years’ lease of about 3 acres; bounded by the “Black Angel,” “City of Glasgow,” “Sons of Freedom,” and “No Surrender” Claims, Madman’s Gully, Karaka Block, known as the “Flying Cloud” Claim, held under miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12 noon, 24th December, 1870, R.B. 807.

Charles Alexander, 15 years’ lease of 3 acres adjoining the late “Great Republic,” now McDonald’s lease, Waiotahi; bounded on the South by the “Great Republic” lease, on the West by the “Waterfall” Claim or the Claim now occupying the ground lately held by the “Waterfall” Gold Mining Company, and on all other sides by abandoned ground, Karaka Block; not held under miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:58 a.m., 4th January, 1871, R.B. 808.

The All Nations Gold Mining Company Registered; applied for by Charles Tothill; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres, more or less, bounded by the “Junction,” “Shooter,” “Kurunui,” “Moanataiari,” “Keals,” and “Inverness” Claims, Kurunui Hill; part held under lease, and part purchased of the “Odd Fellows” Gold Mining Company, Registered. Application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:15 p.m., 4th January, 1871, R.B. 809.

William Foughey and James Garvey, 15 years’ lease of about 7 acres, auriferous quartz, situated at Tararu, bounded on the South by “Vulcan” lease, and on the other sides by ground at present unoccupied, not held under miners’ rights; known as the “New Year’s Gift” Claim; with right of road to Government track; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:15 p.m. 9th January, 1871, R.B. 810.


PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified that the several Mining Leases set forth in the Schedule hereunder have been surrendered, and that the land therein mentioned is now open for occupation.

Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.

The Clyde and Tyne Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 3 acres, 2 roods and 12 perches; 11 men’s ground adjoining the “Trafalgar,” “Good Hope,” and “Little Martha” Gold Mining Companies, situate at Karaka Hill; lease dated 20th May, 1870, surrendered 21st December, 1870.

The National Gold Mining Company, Registered, 14 years’ lease of 3 acres, 1 rood, and 23 perches; 10 men’s ground; bounded by the “Golden Crown Extended,” “Manukau Extended,” “Golden Crown Extended No. 2,” and “Tui and Cuckoo” Gold Mining Companies, situated on the Waiotahi Creek, Karaka Block; lease dated 30th May, 1870, surrendered 23rd December, 1870.


The British Empire Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres 12 men’s ground; bounded by the “Alpha,” “Maiden City,” “Star of Mount Albert,” “Victoria and Albert,” and “Mexican” Claims, Tinkers Gully Creek; lease dated 25th June, 1870, surrendered 10th January, 1871.


COROMANDEL GOLDFIELD.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 10th January, 1871.

IN pursuance of the 29th Section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a Lease for Gold Mining purposes to the Applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Lease.

Copy of the Application made, and Plan annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Coromandel.

SCHEDULE.

A. D. McTavish, Ernest Bieber, Frederick Woolams, and James Macgregor, 15 years’ lease of about 16 acres, commencing at a peg on the beach North of the wharf, Kevins’ Point, and thence Easterly two hundred yards to a peg on the Pah Hill, thence Southerly to a peg two hundred yards Easterly from the wharf, Kevins’ Point, and thence along the beach at high-water mark to the first named peg, passing the fourth peg near the wharf, Kevins’ Point. Application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 1 p.m., 23rd December, 1870, No. 2.
