IT is hereby notified that the Offices of the Provincial Government will be closed on Wednesday next, the 9th instant, in commemoration of the Birthday of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified that the several Mining Leases set forth in the Schedule hereunder have been surrendered, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not otherwise legally occupied, is now open for occupation.

Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

The Grahamstown Consols Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 14 acres 12 perches; bounded by “Sailor Prince,” “Beach,” “Kirk,” and “Little Queen of Sheba” Claims; lease dated 1st December, 1869; surrendered 24th October, 1870.

The Princess Royal Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres 1 rood 20 perches; 45 men’s ground; bounded by “Queen of the East,” “Bell Bird,” and “Pride of Hokianga,” Claims, Tararu; lease dated 31st March, 1870; surrendered 25th October, 1870.

The Dayspring Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 2 acres 32 perches; 7 men’s ground; situated at Waiotahi Creek, adjoining “Bunker’s Hill” and “Gladstone” Claims; lease dated 1st March, 1870; surrendered 25th October, 1870.

The Golden Mint Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 3 acres 2 roods 13 perches; 11 men’s ground; bounded by “John O’Groats,” “Dixon’s No. 3,” “Marquis of Stafford,” “Stonewall Jackson,” and “John O’Groats Extended” Claims, Wiseman’s Gully; lease dated 23rd March, 1870; surrendered 15th October, 1870.

The Scotchmen’s Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres 1 rood 9 perches; 13 men’s ground; bounded by “Queen of the Isles,” “Sunbeam,” and “St. Lawrence,” Claims, Tararu; lease dated 11th April, 1870; surrendered 21st October, 1870.

The Sir William Wallace Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres 1 rood 24 perches; 13 men’s ground; situate on Collarbone Creek, bounded by “Town of Napier,” “Band of Hope,” “Duke of Wellington,” “Union Jack,” and “Earl of Pembroke” Claims; lease dated 23rd April, 1870; surrendered 3rd November, 1870.

The Upper Junction Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 5 acres 1 rood 2 perches; 16 men’s ground; adjoining the “Waterfall,” “Waiotahi Cascades,” and “Abyssinian” Claims, Waiotahi Creek; lease dated 30th May, 1870; surrendered 3rd November, 1870.

The President Lincoln Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 2 acres 3 roods 9 perches; 9 men’s ground; bounded by the “Dawn of Day,” “Star of the West,” “President Johnston,” “Who’d have thought it,” “Cosmopolitan,” and “President Lincoln Extended” Claims, Karaka; lease dated 25th June, 1870; surrendered 4th November, 1870.
