PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Grahamstown, 11th January, 1870.

In pursuance of the 29th Section of "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.

Objections to granting the following applications, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden, at Shortland, within the time prescribed by the aforesaid Regulations.

Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Shortland.

SCHEDULE.

CHARLES TOTHILL, for the Pride of the West Gold Mining Company (Registered); 15 years’ lease of about 3½ Acres; adjoining Alburnia, Dixon’s No. 1, Carriboo, and Success claims, head of Moanataiari Creek; known as “Pride of the West” claim. Held under Miners’ rights.

WILLIAM ROWE, for the Nil Desperandum Gold Mining Company (Registered); 15 years’ lease of about 2½ Acres; adjoining Papakura, and Star and Garter claims, above Punga Flat; known as “Nil Desperandum” claim. Held under Miners’ rights.

C. E. HAGGITON, for the Macdonald Gold Mining Company (Registered); 15 years’ lease of about 4 Acres; adjoining the Macdonald Company’s Ground, and bounded upon other sides by the Pride of the World, Pride of the Karaka, the Waterloo, and Colonial Hope claims; known as “The Victoria” claim. Held under Miners’ rights.

JOHN BATGER, for the Abyssinian Gold Mining Company (Registered); 15 years’ lease of about 2 Acres; adjoining Upper Junction Gold Mining Company’s Lease, and Mocking Bird Gold Mining Company, situate at head of the Waiotahi Creek; formerly known as the Brickmakers’ claim; now held by the Abyssinian Gold Mining Company (Registered), with right of road. Held under Miners’ rights.

JOHN HENRY BURNSIDE, for the Redan Gold Mining Company (Registered); 15 years’ lease of about 3 Acres; adjoining Kelly’s, Inverness, Just in Time and Don Pedro claims, Moanataiari Creek; known as “The Redan” claim, with right of road and water. Held under Miners’ rights.

STAMP DUTIES.
