PROCLAMATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Auckland.

In exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf by "The Slaughter-house Act, 1866," of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Auckland, I, Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, the said Superintendent, do hereby proclaim and declare that the provisions of Section 8, of "The Slaughter-house Act, 1866," aforesaid, are extended to the Town of Grahamstown, the boundaries of which are as follows: Commencing at a point on the proper right bank of the Karaka Creek, near Vickery’s Machine; thence Northerly by lines 2,600 links or thereabouts; thence Westerly by lines 780 links; thence Southerly by lines 822 links; thence in a Northerly direction along the foot of the range 4,810 links; thence to the sea beach Westerly 623 links; thence by the sea beach ordinary high water mark to the mouth of the Karaka Creek; thence up the right hand bank of the Karaka Creek to the commencing point, all distances being approximate.

Given at Auckland under my hand, and the Public Seal of the Province, this ninth day of June, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and seventy.

HAURAKI GOLD FIELD.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that the several Applications for Mining Leases set forth in the Schedule hereunder, have been abandoned, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation.

Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.

C. W. Middleton, for the United States Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 12 acres; bounded by the "Queen of Sheba," Bull’s Machine, Karaka Creek, Karaka Block; application notified in Gazette No. 54, dated 18th August, 1869, page 731.

James T. Edwards, for the Shareholders of the "Rose of Denmark" Claim; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres more or less; situated on the Karaka Creek, adjoining Melsaae’s Lease, consisting of the "Rose of Denmark" Claim, and surplus ground; application notified in Gazette No. 63, dated 8th September, 1869, page 978.

John W. Pearse, for the Sydney and Melbourne Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; bounded by the "Golden Crown Extended," "Kirk’s" Claim, "Queen of Sheba," "Gunn’s," and beach Claims on the Waiotahi Spur, comprising the "Golden Eagle No. 3," "Sydney and Melbourne," and "Aisla Craig"; application notified in Gazette No. 69, dated 22nd September, 1869, page 1,133.

Hereby notify that the undermentioned gentlemen have been this day elected Members of the City Board of Commissioners, for the Wards set opposite their respective names:
