AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

KAUWAERANGA HIGHWAY BOARD.

BY-LAWS

FOR the REGULATION of Omnibuses, Cabs, and all other Vehicles plying for hire within the Kauwaeranga Highway District:—

That the Board of Trustees of the Kauwaeranga Highway District appoint Edward Honiss as Inspector of Licensed Vehicles.

That all owners of Omnibuses, Cars, or Cabs shall obtain from the Inspector of Licensed Vehicles a license permitting such Omnibus, &c., to carry a certain number of passengers either inside or outside.

That the number of passengers each Omnibus or Cab is licensed to carry shall be be painted in letters, one inch in size on the inside and outside of the door, or on other conspicuous places of such Omnibus, Cab, Car, &c.

That any Driver or other person driving any Omnibus or Car within the Kauwaeranga Highway District without such Omnibus or Car being first licensed by the Inspector of Licensed Vehicles, and having the number of passengers such Omnibus or Car is licensed to carry painted on the place appointed by the Board of Highway Trustees, be liable to a fine of 40s. on conviction before the Resident Magistrate or Justice of the Peace of the district.

That any Driver of any Omnibus, Car, &c., galloping his horses, or racing with any other Vehicle, be fined on conviction before the Resident Magistrate or Justices of the Peace of the district a sum not exceeding £5.

That any Driver stopping his Vehicle, except to take up or set down passengers at any other place than at Grahamstown or Tararu, and in Pollen-street, at its junction with Grey-street, in a line, with the horses heads turned towards the Karaka Creek, in the middle of the roadway, be fined 20s. on conviction before the Resident Magistrate or Justice of the Peace of the district.

That each Driver, on arriving with his Vehicle at the junction of Grey and Pollen-streets, must either proceed on his journey without stopping, or turn down Grey-street towards the wharf, and place his Vehicle in a line, as before directed; the next Driver, on arriving, to place his Vehicle immediately behind the first, and the third behind the second, and so on.

That no Omnibus remain on the Stand in Pollen-street longer than ten minutes. On any Omnibus leaving the Stand, the Omnibus immediately behind it to take its place. Any driver infringing these rules to be fined 20s. on conviction.

That any Driver carrying more passengers than the number for which he is licensed be fined 40s. on conviction.

That all Drays passing through any part of the Kauwaeranga Highway District shall have the name and residence of the Owner, and also a Registered Number, to be obtained from the Inspector of Licensed Vehicles painted on the right hand side of the vehicle.

That any Driver, Owner, or other person driving any Dray or Cart without the name and residence of the Owner and the registered number being on it, be fined 20s. for every day he so neglect, on conviction.

That any Driver or Owner of any Dray or Cart plying for hire shall stand in a line in Grey-street from the Wharf to its junction with Pollen-street.

Approved at a Meeting of the Kauwaeranga Highway Board, May 6, 1870, and to take effect on the 17th May inst.

THE undersigned, Nathaniel William Massey, hereby make application to register the "Moanataiari Water Supply Company (Registered)," under the provisions of "The Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act, 1865," and "Amendment Act, 1869," and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular namely:—

  1. The name and style of the Company is the "Moanataiari Water Supply Company (Registered)."

  2. The place of operations is at the Thames Gold Field in the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

  3. The nominal capital of the Company is Five Thousand Pounds, in One thousand shares of Five Pounds each.

  4. The amount already paid-up in Cash is Nil; and the amount allotted in paid-up shares is (500) Five hundred Pounds.

  5. The name of the Manager is Nathaniel William Massey.

  6. The Office of the Company is at Brown-street, Grahamstown.

  7. The names and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as follows, namely:—

Advertisements must be forwarded to the Superintendent’s Office at Auckland, or to the authorized Agent at Shortland or at Coromandel, with prepayment of the charge for insertion at the rates above specified.

Advertisements should be written on one side of the paper; and names, signatures, &c., must be written in a legible hand, to save mistakes.
