The Lady Grant Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by Daniel Gearey, in the name of the “Golconda” Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; situated at Tararu Block, and adjoining the “Sunshine” Claim; application notified in Gazette No. 41, dated 30th June, 1869, page 541.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 4th April, 1870.

It is hereby notified that the several Mining Leases set forth in the Schedule hereunder have been cancelled on account of non-execution, and that all rights, privileges, and claims, in respect of the applications for the same, are deemed to have been forfeited, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation. Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

Clarkson’s No. 2 Gold Mining Company, applied for by John W. Pearse; 15 years’ lease of about 12 acres; bounded by the “Pride of Erin” Gold Mining Company, “Success” Gold Mining Company, “Clarkson’s No. 1” Gold Mining Company, and “Fairfield” Claim, Wiseman’s Gully; application notified in Gazette No. 54, dated 18 August, 1869, page 713.

The Victoria Gold Mining Company, applied for by John Gwynneth; 15 years’ lease of 10 acres, situated at the head of the Karaka Creek, on the Watershed Range, and adjoining the “Watershed,” “Stark’s,” and “McIsaac’s” Claims, including “South-eastern,” “Australasia,” and “Nottingham,” “Young Sylvia,” and “Staffordshire Beauty” Claims, and ground adjoining; application notified in Gazette No. 6, dated 12 February, 1869, page 75.

The New England Gold Mining and Quartz Crushing Company, Registered, applied for by A. McKechnie, in the name of the “New Zealand” Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; situate in Tinker’s Gully and Tararu Block; known as the “Cock of the Walk,” “Rise and Shine,” “Kaitai, No. 2,” and “Jolly Butchers” Claims; application notified in Gazette No. 20, dated 13th April, 1869, page 315.

The Metropolitan Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by D. B. Wallace; 15 years’ lease of 3 acres or thereabouts; known as the “Two Fingered” Claim; situated on the Waiotahi Creek; bounded by the “Five Fingered,” “Brian Boru,” “Duchess of Kent,” and the Creek; application notified in Gazette No. 56, dated 23rd August, 1869, page 779.

The Mississippi Gold Mining Company, applied for by Joseph Lyle; 15 years’ lease of 10 acres; situated on the Tararu Creek adjoining the “Wild Missouri” Claim; application notified in Gazette No. 20, dated 13th April, 1869, page 316.

The Great United Quartz Mining Company, Registered, applied for by A. McKechnie; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; situated at Alabama Creek, Karaka Block, including “Golden Cross,” “Wanganui Independent,” “Lady Egmont,” “Golden Star,” and adjoining ground; application notified in Gazette No. 20, dated 13th April, 1870, page 318.

Charles Featherstone Mitchell and Robert Lusk, for the shareholders of the Victoria Reef claim; 15 years’ lease of 12 acres; bounded on the North and East by the “Fiery Cross” lease, and on the West by the “Silver Star” Claim; application notified in Gazette No. 48, dated 28th July, 1869, page 638.

Robert Morris Perston, 15 years’ lease of about 12 acres; situate on the northern bank of the Karaka Creek, and close to the boundary of the township; application notified in Gazette No. 5, dated 5th February, 1869, page 77.

Robert Lusk, applied for by H. B. Francis, for the Hauraki Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of about 5 acres; at the junction of Karaka and Waiotahi Creeks; application notified in Gazette No. 6, dated 12th February, 1869, page 76.

Edmond G. Holland; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; adjoining Eaton’s Machine and Karaka Creek, and the “Flora Macdonald” and “Longfellow’s” Claims; application notified in Gazette No. 39, dated 24th June, 1869, page 516.

Hereby notify that the following gentlemen, namely:

have been elected Highway Trustees for the Drury District in the room of Mr. J. L. West, Mr. Robert Vaile, resigned; and of Mr. James Oldham, Mr. F. J. Von Sturmer, and Mr. Charles Richards, disqualified.
