PROCLAMATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

I, THOMAS BANNATYNE GILLIES, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in exercise of the powers and authority delegated to me under "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," "The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 1868," and "The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 1869," do hereby proclaim and declare that I do hereby constitute and appoint to be a Gold Field, under the provisions of the said recited Acts, all that portion of land within the Province of Auckland aforesaid, known as the Manaia Block, and comprised within the following boundaries:—Commencing at the Northern boundary of the lands of Ngatitamatera at Te Ruahine, thence proceeding along the line which has been laid down to Ponga Whakairo, thence to Paketotara, thence proceeding along the ridge to the source of the Manaia stream, thence continuing along the ridge to Pukewhakariki, thence to Tawhitirahi, thence to Te Toutiti, thence to Maungakawa, thence coming out at the great road and going towards Manaia by that great road to the boundary of the piece of land reserved for native occupation and cultivation, thence along the (boundary) line of the said land which has been laid down to the Manaia stream, and proceeding by the said line to Te Tumutumu, thence continuing along the said line to the point of commencement at Te Ruahine. And I do also hereby proclaim and declare that the said block of land shall be and is hereby included as part of the Coromandel Gold Field.

And I do hereby further proclaim and declare that the Regulations made for the Hauraki Gold Field within the said Province and published in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette on the sixteenth day of April, 1868, shall be the Regulations in force throughout the Gold Field hereby constituted.

Given under my hand and seal, at Auckland, this eighteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 16th February, 1870.

It is hereby notified that a Lease has been refused to the Applicant named in the Schedule hereunder, and the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ rights, is now open for occupation.

Alexander McKechnie, 15 years’ lease of 15 acres, situate at Tararu Creek; known as "Tarbert Castle" Company’s claim, Tararu; application notified in Gazette No. 23, dated 28th April, 1869, page 346.
