PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire, Superintendent
of the Province of Auckland.

In conformity to the 29th Section of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” and to the Regulations
made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby
notified that it is intended to grant a Lease, for Gold Mining purposes, of Crown lands to
the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless valid objections can be shown against
granting such Lease.

Objections to granting such Lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in
writing, and lodged with the Wardens, at Shortland, within the time prescribed by the
aforesaid Regulations.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Wardens’ Office,
Shortland.

Given under my hand, at Wellington this twenty-fifth
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-nine.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICATION FOR LEASE.

In pursuance of the Regulations for granting Leases for Gold Mining purposes on Gold Fields in the Province of Auckland, I hereby make application for a Lease, whereof the particulars are as follow, to be granted to HENRY SARJEANT, of Shortland,
Gentleman.

Estimated Area. Number of Years. Description of Land. If held under Miners’ Right Name (if any) of Claim. Special Description of Easements (if any) required.
16 acres. 15 All that parcel of auriferous and quartz containing land on the Thames Goldfield, in the Province of Auckland, New Zealand; bounded towards the north by a line running from a peg near the old rifle butts to a peg near the Burial ground, being peg and peg with the “St. Kilda” Company’s ground; towards the south by a line running from a peg near the Slaughter Yards to a peg in the bend of the Kauaeranga Creek, below the Slaughter Yards; towards the east by a line running from a peg near the rifle butts to the peg near the Slaughter Yards; and towards the west by a line running from the peg near the Burial ground to peg in bend of Kauaeranga Creek, below the Slaughter Yard. Held under Miners’ Rights and Leasing Regulations. Right to break the surface.
