42 M William B. Moores 68 Hypertrophy of heart June 6 June 16 11 Was in a state of great debility on admission, with signs of diseased heart, and oedematous swelling of the lower limbs. After death the heart was found as large as a bullock's, with ossified semilunar valves, and dilatation of the aorta.
33 M Edward O'Shaughnessy 26 Phthisis pulmonalis June 20 June 23 4 Was in a dying state on admission, but as the case presented nothing peculiar, no examination was made.
34 M Robert Mansfield 24 Epilepsy May 18 July 7 51 Had long been subject to fits, and was affected with amaurotic blindness. On the night before his death he was seized with a very violent fit, from which he never rallied. A tumor the size of a walnut, and of scirrhous hardness, was found imbedded in the right anterior lobe of the brain, the substance of which was of the consistence of custard, in the proximity of the tumor. The optic nerves were much atrophied. A hydatid vesicle was found in the right lateral ventricle.
35 M Duncan McIntyre 40 Phthisis pulmonalis July 2 July 15 13 In addition to the usual symptoms of pulmonary disease there was a state of general dropsy, and, as well as in the lungs, numerous clusters of tubercles were found in the peritoneal surface of the intestines and mesentery. The abdomen was full of fluid. Liver nutmeg.
36 M Henry Adams 40 Aneurism of aorta June 26 July 17 22 Symptoms on admission those of the worst phase of asthma. Voice whispering; suffocation caused death. After death an aneurism of the arch of the aorta, as large as an orange, was found. The root of the left lung converted into a dense scirrhous mass, containing bony deposit. The bronchial glands were enlarged and indurated. Left lung infiltrated with serum. Right pleura full of serum. Aneurism had not burst.
37 M Joseph Gomez 25 Phthisis pulmonalis 1867 Oct. 12 Oct. 19 272 The case of Joseph Gomez was complicated with diarrhoea, but presented no peculiar interest.
