Harbour Signal Codes and Court Notice




When the pennants are hauled down, or are not shown, the vessel is inside Rangitoto.

A blue flag half (top) mast high—a vessel in distress.
Ditto (lower) on shore.

A chequered flag (blue and white) under descriptive signal—coastwise.
Union jack over descriptive signal—a British man-of-war.

When vessels are signalled outside the Heads, or as entering the Harbour, one or more of the following signals will be made at the signal mast head as occasion may require:—

Telegraph flag ...... Mail on board.
Union jack ...... Governor on board.
Blue flag ...... Vessel has anchored.
Chequered flag ...... Vessel has gone into Kawau or other adjacent port.
White flag ...... Vessel has passed out of sight.

Blue flag over white flag ...... Vessel has put back.

Plus flag over Marryat’s flag ...... Steam-tug wanted.

NOTE.—When more than one vessel is signalled at the same time, and any one of the foregoing signals, or a vessel’s number, be hoisted at the signal mast head, the telegraph flag will be hoisted under the descriptive signal of the vessel to which such signal or number may refer.

Any further signals required will be made with Marryat’s, or the New Commercial code of signals.


IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND.

NORTHERN DISTRICT.

Between ALLAN O’NEILL, Plaintiff, and JEAN BAPTISTE FRANCIS POMPILLIER and HUGH McILHONE, Defendants.

WHEREAS by Virtue of a Writ of FIERI FACIAS issued in this action and directed to me, ordering me that of the Real and Personal Estate of the above-named Jean Baptiste Francis Pompallier and Hugh McIlhone I should cause to be made the sum of £244 12s. 4d., together with interest on the said sum, at the rate of eight pounds for every one hundred pounds by the year, from the 7th day of September, 1868, together with £1 13s. 4d. for the said writ and warrant thereon besides sheriff’s poundage, officer’s fees, &c.

Now I do hereby give notice that I shall cause to be sold by public auction, by G. Arthur and Son, at their auction mart, Queen-street, Auckland, on the fourth day of March, 1869, at the hour of twelve o’clock noon, unless the said debt of £244 12s. 4d. and interest, be sooner paid together with the said sum of £1 13s. 4d. besides sheriff’s poundage, officer’s fees, &c.

All the estate, right, title, and interest of the said Jean Baptiste Francis Pompallier, of, in, and to, all that piece or parcel of land in the Parish of Takapuna, County of Eden, part of suburban allotment No. 77, containing 4 acres of land more or less, being the north-east end of same allotment, and excepted out of a certain deed of mortgage, bearing date the eighth day of August, 1867, made between the said Jean Baptiste Francis Pompallier of the one part, and one Henry Chamberlain of the other part, and registered in the Registry Office at Auckland as No. 85,959, whereby the whole of the said suburban allotment No. 77, excepting the said 4 acres, was conveyed by the said Jean Baptiste Francis Pompallier by way of mortgage to the said Henry Chamberlain, and which said allotment No. 77, including the said 4 acres, is delineated, and the boundaries and measurements thereof shown upon the plan thereof, drawn upon the memorial of judgment upon which the said writ of fieri facias was issued, and which memorial is registered at the Register of Deeds Office, at Auckland aforesaid, as No. 38229.

And I further give notice that the estate and interest of the said Jean Baptiste Francis Pompallier in the said piece or parcel of land, consists of an estate in fee simple, free from incumbrances, and that the same has been taken in execution at the suit of the said Allan O’Neill, the execution creditor.
