Accidental injuries to be repaired under penalty.
- Any person who makes any vessel boat timber or other article fast to any buoy beacon or sea mark and any master or owner of a vessel being navigated without having a pilot on board or the owner of any boat by which any such buoy beacon or sea mark is accidentally removed injured or destroyed who does not forthwith and either with or without demand make good such damage or pay to the Collector of Customs at the port for the purposes of this Act a sum in the judgment of such Collector sufficient to cover the expense of so doing shall for every such offence forfeit a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds in addition to the cost of repairing such damage.

THE following notice to Mariners is published for general information, under “The Marine Act, 1867.”

NOTICE is hereby given, that five Cask and two Cone Buoys (painted red) have been placed in 12 feet water at low spring tides, from midway between the perforated Cone Buoy (red), abreast of the Whau block house and Cape Horn, to Mangere Reef Beacon, which is also painted red, to mark the starboard side of the channel (inwards), and the least water found in this channel is 9 feet at low spring tides...nearly abreast of White Bluff. Also a Cask Buoy (painted black) has been placed in 3 feet water (low spring tide) at the S.E. extreme part of the shoal abreast of the Old Wharf (Onehunga) and about one cable from this position in line with New Wharf a red and black checkered Buoy has been placed on a patch of loose stones and muddy sand (dry at low spring tides) which can be passed on either side, having 15 feet water over the shoals (which consists of blue mud and sand many feet deep) near the New Wharf at ordinary spring tides.
Further Notice is also given, that the remaining piles which formerly marked the channel will be removed. In the mean time Mariners are hereby cautioned not to pass between the piles and the buoys placed for their guidance.
