PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 28th October, 1868.

IT is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the election of a Member of the Provincial Council, for the Electoral District of the Northern Division, has been returned with a certificate thereon to the effect that

Henry Warner Farnall,
of Wangaparoa, Freeholder, has been duly elected.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By John Williamson, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS, by virtue of “The High Ways Act, 1867,” it is provided that if, at the first or any other annual meeting or adjournment thereof, the Electors shall fail to elect Trustees for the ensuing year, and the Chairman of such meeting shall not communicate to the Superintendent a sufficient reason for such omission, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to appoint Trustees, who shall have the status and all the powers, duties, and liabilities of Trustees elected:

And whereas the Trustees of the District of The Lake, under the said Act, have failed at their annual meeting to elect Trustees, and the Chairman of such meeting has not communicated to me a sufficient reason for such omission:

Now, therefore, I, John Williamson, the Superintendent aforesaid, in pursuance of the powers and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby appoint

Andrew Goldie,
Robert Hunt,
John DeCoucy Ireland,
Robert Mackay, and
William Millet

to be Highway Trustees for the said District of The Lake, and to have and to hold the status, and all the powers, duties, and liabilities, conferred or imposed upon Trustees elected under the provisions of the before-recited Act.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this twenty-seventh day of October, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
