PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 26th June, 1868.

I HEREBY notify for general information, that a Writ, issued by me on the sixteenth day of June, 1868, for the election of a Member of the Provincial Council for the Electoral District of Newton, has been returned with an endorsement thereon as follows:—

"I, Henry Colin Balneavis, the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of New-ton, do hereby declare, that in pursuance of the Writ to me directed, bearing date the sixteenth day of June, 1868, the under-mentioned Candidate is duly elected a Member of the Provincial Council for the said District.

Dated this twenty-sixth day of June, 1868.

Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

BY virtue of the powers in me vested by the forty-second section of "The Highways Act, 1867," I do hereby delegate unto the Highway Trustees of the Maungakahia District, the powers and authority vested in me as Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, by the fourth, fifth, and ninth sections of "The Thistle Act, 1858."

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
