WARDENS OF GOLD FIELDS.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington,
the seventh day of March, 1868.
PRESENT:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by Order in Council, from time to time, to constitute for any Gold Field or for any part thereof, Warden’s Courts for the administration of justice therein, and to appoint Wardens of such Courts, with power to act alone or with assessors, and in such manner, and to exercise all or any of the powers hereinafter mentioned as the Governor shall think fit to direct.
And whereas by a certain proclamation made by His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, dated the seventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, and published in the Provincial Government Gazette of the said Province on the seventeenth day of the said month of August, the portion of the Colony in the said Province of Auckland therein specified, was constituted a gold field.
And whereas it is expedient that a Warden’s Court should be constituted in and for the said gold field:
Now therefore His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority, doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, order, that Wardens’ Courts shall be, and the same are hereby constituted and established for the gold field constituted by the hereinbefore recited proclamation, dated the seventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, for the administration of justice therein, and doth hereby appoint
James Mackay Junr.,
Henry Charles Lawlor, and
Alan Baillie, Esquires,
to be Wardens of such Courts, with power to act alone or with assessors, and in such manner as is provided by the said Act, and to exercise all such powers as are mentioned by the said Act, and which the Governor by the said Act has power to direct them to exercise.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Bay of Islands Settlement Act, 1858,” the Governor was empowered to set apart, on the western side of the Bay of Islands, an eligible site for Colonization, and to take for such Settlement certain land in the said Act specified, and it was further provided that such land should be disposed of for such prices, in such manner, for such purposes, upon such laws, and subject to such Regulations, as the Governor in Council should from time to time prescribe for that purpose;
And whereas certain Regulations were accordingly made on the 19th day of April, 1864, and the 11th day of January, 1866;
And whereas it was deemed expedient to make further Regulations in respect of the matter aforesaid, and His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, did, accordingly, by an Order in Council made on the 22nd day of March, 1867, make other Regulations for the disposal of the said land:
Now therefore, I, John Williamson, the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, under and by virtue of the powers conferred upon me by the last-mentioned Regulations, do hereby notify for public information, that all those pieces or parcels of land, enumerated in the Schedule hereunder written, will be open for selection and sale at the Auction Sale Room of Mr. Samuel Cochrane, Fort-street, in the City of Auckland, within the Province aforesaid, on and after the 20th day of April, 1868.
