NORTHERN DISTRICT.

VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, to CHRISTOPHER ATWELL HARRIS and WILLIAM SWINTON LAURIE of Auckland, Merchants, trading as “Harris and Laurie,” Co-partners, DAVID NATHAN of the same place, Merchant, and JAMES CRUICKSHANK, and JAMES SMART, and DAVID BOOSIE CRUICKSHANK of the same place, Merchants, Co-partners, trading as “Cruickshank Smart & Co.”

GREETING :

WHEREAS an action is now pending in our Supreme Court of New Zealand, Northern District, Province of Auckland, between ALEXANDER KERR of Auckland, Manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Auckland, Plaintiff, and THOMAS SCOTT of the same place, Merchant, Defendant, and in order that the Plaintiff may proceed in the said action, We command you, that you and each of you do retain and keep all and singular lands and other hereditaments, monies, and chattels, bills, bonds, and other property of whatsoever nature, in the custody or under the control of you or either of you, at the time of the service of this writ, belonging to the above-named defendant, or to or in which such defendant shall at that time be legally or equitably entitled, or otherwise beneficially interested, and all debts of every kind then due by you or either of you to such defendant, although the same or part thereof may be payable only at a future day.

WITNESS, His Honor JOSEPH SCHRÖDER MOORE, Esquire, at Auckland of our said Supreme Court of New Zealand, (L.S.) this fifth day of September, A.D. 1867.

This writ was issued by Samuel Jackson and James Russell of Fore Street, Auckland, Solicitors for the within named Plaintiff.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By DANIEL POLLEN, Esq., Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

IN pursuance of the third section of “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify for general information that from and after this date the PAPAKURA VALLEY DISTRICT shall be known by the name of the PAPAKURA DISTRICT, and further, that the PAPAROA DISTRICT, proclaimed by notification bearing date the 1st of December, 1864, shall from and after this date be known by the name
