DIRECTIONS FOR CROSSING HOKIANGA BAR.

The following letter received from the Pilot and Harbour Master at Hokianga, is published for general information:
Auckland, June 11th, 1867.
Sir,—I have the honor to inform you that Beacons are created to guide vessels over the Hokianga Bar; and that the following directions will have to be observed in entering:—
DIRECTIONS.
In consequence of the channel over Hokianga Bar having shifted a little to the Southward, two wooden beacons have been erected (painted white) in Martin’s Bay, which must be kept in a line, bearing N.E. by East ¾ East, which will lead over the deepest part of the Bar.
