PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Esq., Superintendent of the Province
of Auckland.

WHEREAS by the Impounding Act,
1856, of the Local Legislation of the
Province of Auckland, it is amongst other
things enacted that it shall not be lawful for
any person to suffer any cattle belonging to
him, or under his charge, to stray, or go
about, or to be tethered, or depastured in
any highway or public place, or unenclosed
land, within the limits of such of the towns
or villages as the said Province as the Super-
intendent thereof shall from time to time, by
notification in the Auckland Provincial
Government Gazette, declare to be and to
come within the operation of the provisions
of such Act, in respect of cattle so straying,
going about, being tethered or depastured
in such highway or public place or unen-
closed land; and also that the said Superin-
tendent may from time to time define and
alter and vary, for the purposes of such Act,
the limits of such towns and villages: Now,
therefore, I, the Superintendent of the said
Province, do hereby, under and in pursuance
of the power vested in me in that behalf by
the said Act, notify and declare that tho
town of Hamilton, in the said Province,
shall from the third day of the month of
December, One thousand eight hundred and
sixty-six, come within the operation of the
provisions of the said Act, in respect of such
matters as aforesaid, and that the limits
theofor for the purposes of such Act shall
be the following, until altered or varied as
and in manner aforesaid: that is to say: All
those parts of the said town, the boundaries
of which are as follow, viz. —

HAMILTON EAST.

Bounded on the South-Eastern side by
the town belt, commencing at a reserve on
the Waikato River, and continued along the
South-eastern boundary of that reserve, and
a road in continuation of that boundary, one
chain wide along lots 348 and 189; on the
North-Eastern side, also by the town belt,

HAMILTON WEST.

Bounded on the Southern side by the
township common reserve, No. 358, com-
encing at its North-East angle, on the
Waikato River, and extending about four
chains beyond the Western boundary of
that reserve to the South-Western side of a
road forming the boundary of Lot 366; on
the South-Western and Western sides by
the westernmost side of that road to a point
distant about 150 links from the North-
East angle of Lot 291, by a North-Westerly
line from thence, and continuing along the
South-West side of a road bounding Lots
249 and 875, and continued about 18½
chains beyond the last mentioned lot, and by
another road to the Western boundary of
Lot 228, by that boundary and the South-
West boundaries of Lots 226 to 213, and
continued one chain beyond the last named
lot, by the North-West side of a road
bounding that lot, and the South-West side
of another road to the South-Western
boundary of Lot 202, by that boundary by
its North-Western boundary, and a con-
tinued line to a creek flowing into the
Waikato; on the North-Western side by
that creek, and on the North-Eastern and
Eastern sides by the Waikato River to the
North-Eastern boundary of the township
common reserve.
