PROCLAMATION.

By ROBERT GRAHAM, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of the Province of Auckland was on the tenth day of February, 1864, under the powers vested in me for that purpose, prorogued, and whereas, by a Proclamation given under my hand, and dated the tenth day of August last, it was proclaimed and declared that the seventeenth session of the Provincial Council should commence on Friday, the thirtieth day of September instant, and whereas it is expedient to further prorogue the said Council: Now, therefore, pursuant to the authority in me vested in that behalf, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, do hereby proclaim and declare that the seventeenth session of the Provincial Council shall be held at Auckland, and shall commence on Wednesday, the fifth day of October next; and the Members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this twenty-seventh day of September, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

By his Honor ROBERT GRAHAM, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by the Impounding Act, 1856, of the Local Legislature of the Province of Auckland, it is amongst other things enacted that it shall not be lawful for any person to suffer any cattle belonging to him, or under his charge, to stray, or go about, or to be tethered, or depastured in any highway or public place, or unenclosed land, within the limits of such of the towns or villages in the said Province as the Superintendent thereof shall from time to time, by notification in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette, declare to be and to come within the operation of the provisions of such Act, in respect of cattle so straying, going about, being tethered or depastured in such highway or public place or unenclosed land; and also, that the said Superintendent may from time to time define and alter and vary, for the purposes of such Act, the limits of such towns and villages: Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby, under and in pursuance of the power vested in me in that behalf by the said Act, notify and declare that the town of Russell, in the said Province, shall from the sixteenth day of the month of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, come within the operation of the provisions of the said Act, in respect of such matters as aforesaid, and that the limits thereof for the purposes of such Act shall be the following, until altered or varied, as and in manner aforesaid; that is to say: All that part of the said town, or of the said town and its suburbs (as the case may be) the boundaries of which are as follow, viz., commencing from Mataui Bay by Brinds Road and Gould Street to the upper end of the Roman Catholic Burial Ground, thence by the cut Survey Line to Mr. Bateman’s fence, along which to the Flagstaff, and thence down the Stream to the watering place, whence by the Beach to the starting point at Mataui Bay.
