I HEREBY notify for general information,
that a Writ, issued by me on the twelfth
day of April, 1864, for the election of a
Member of the Provincial Council for the
District of Auckland West, has been returned
with an endorsement thereon as follows:—
"I, Laughlin O’Brien, the Returning Offi-
cer for the Electoral District of the City of
Auckland West, do hereby declare that in
pursuance of the writ to me directed, bear-
ing date the twelfth day of April, 1864, the
undermentioned Candidate is duly elected a
Member of the Provincial Council of the
Province of Auckland for the said District.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
WHEREAS by virtue of the "Auckland
Municipal Police Act, 1862," it is
amongst other things enacted that the Com-
missioner of Police or any Constable is em-
powered to seize and remove any property
suffered to remain on any carriage or foot-way
contrary to the provisions of the said Act,
and detain the same in some place to be set
apart for that purpose until the expense (to
be ascertained and fixed by the Commissioner
of Police) of removing and detaining the said
property shall be paid: It is hereby notified
for general information, that the allotments of
land belonging to the Provincial Government,
situate at the junction of Wakefield Street,
