I HEREBY notify that the Run described below has been claimed by Isaac R. Cooper.

Situation.—Orewa.

Boundaries.—Bounded by the Orewa river, the sea beach, and by land owned by applicant.

Estimated extent.—160 acres.

Number and description of Stock upon the Run.—(To commence with) 30 head great cattle.

WITH reference to the notice of this day’s date, from this Office, publishing the names of persons to whom Depasturing Licenses have been issued within the several Hundreds of Auckland, Onehunga, Panmure, and Howick, for the year 1864, I hereby call Meetings to be held, in conformity with the provisions of the Crown Lands Ordinance, No. 1, Session 10, No. 2, Session 11, at the places and times specified below, of such holders of Depasturing Licenses, for the purpose of electing from among themselves three Wardens within the said Hundreds respectively,—

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
