PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
By His Honor Robert Graham,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Auckland.
WHEREAS by the “Sheep Act, 1863,”
of the Local Legislature of the Province
of Auckland in the Colony of New
Zealand, it is amongst other things enacted
that the Superintendent of the said Province
may, from time to time, by public notification,
appoint, for the purposes of the said Act,
certain places within the said Province to be
called “Sheep Quarantine Grounds,” and
may, from time to time, revoke any appoint-
ment so made; And whereas it is expedient
to appoint the place hereinafter described a
Sheep Quarantine Ground for such purposes;
Now, therefore, I, Robert Graham, Esquire,
Superintendent of the said Province, do
hereby, under and in pursuance of the
powers vested in me in that behalf by the
said Act, appoint and notify that the place
hereinafter described shall be, from and after
the publication hereof, a Sheep Quarantine
Ground for the purposes of the said Act, that
is to say: All that place known as a portion
of the Government Reserve situate at Remuera,
in the Suburbs of Auckland in the said Pro-
vince, bounded on the South by a road, and
on all other sides by the sea, and containing
forty-five acres, more or less.
Given under my hand, at Auck-
land aforesaid, this fourteenth
day of November, one thou-
sand eight hundred and
sixty-three.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
Rock off Long Look-out, on the Northern side
of Banks’s Peninsula, Middle Island, New
Zealand.
The Barque “Catherine,” from Hobart
Town, when about three-quarters of a mile
from the Long Look-out, struck on a sunken
reef, injuring the gudgeons of her rudder so
as to disable her. She was towed into the
Port of Lyttelton by the “Gazelle.”

THE following Circular, in reference to a
proposed National Shakespeare Memo-
rial, is published for general information.

Sir,—We do ourselves the honor of calling
Your Excellency’s attention to the accom-
panying Resolution of the Shakespeare
Committee, * inviting your co-operation in making
known to Her Majesty’s subjects within your
Province the intention to celebrate next year
the Three Hundredth Birthday of Shake-
speare, in a manner worthy of the poet and
of the poet’s countrymen.
“Proposed by Sir Richard MacDonnell, C.B., seconded
by Thomas Wright, Esq., That the Governors of Her
Majesty’s Colonies and Indian Possessions be invited to make
known the objects of this Committee within their respective
Provinces, and to enlist the sympathy and support of Her
Majesty’s subjects throughout the British Dependencies in
aid of the erection of the contemplated National Shakesperean
Monument.”
