Tenders for Eradicating Thistles, Wairoa Sub-District.

Auckland, 6th January, 1863.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until noon of Wednesday, the 14th January instant, from persons willing to contract for eradicating and destroying all noxious Thistles growing upon any of the Waste Lands of the Crown, lands belonging to the Aboriginal Natives, and on any public road or reserve within the “Wairoa District” as hereinafter described, from the 15th January till the 30th June, 1863.

The Wairoa District is bounded on the North by the Waikeke Channel, from the Eastern boundary of the Hundred of Howick to the Wairoa River; on the East by the Wairoa River; on the South-East by Hewling’s line; on the South and South-West by the Pahurehure Creek, and by Manukau Harbour to the South-Eastern boundary of Clendon’s Grant; on the North-West by Clendon’s Grant to the Eastern boundary of the Hundred of Otahuhu; and on the West by the Eastern boundaries of the Hundreds of Otahuhu and Howick.

QUEEN-STREET WHARF.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 6th January, 1863.

In pursuance of the authority vested in me by the “Wharf Regulations Act, 1858,” I have made the following Regulations, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and hereby give notice that the same will come into operation on the 14th day of February next.

All Vessels or Boats holding a License from Her Majesty’s Customs shall pay the sum of Twenty Shillings per Quarter, for the right of hauling alongside and discharging at the wharf, subject to the Wharf Regulations. And all registered vessels of thirty tons and under, trading within the limits of the North and East Cape shall pay the sum of Forty Shillings per Quarter, for the like purpose, and subject to the said Regulations. And no Owner or Master of such Vessel shall be allowed to haul alongside or discharge on the said wharf until such quarterly payments shall have been made.

And it shall be lawful for the Wharfinger and he is hereby required to issue to any Master or Owner of any such Vessel upon receipt of such payment as aforesaid, a License in the form set forth in the Schedule to these Regulations annexed, which License shall entitle the holder thereof to haul the vessel named therein alongside the said wharf, and to discharge thereat without any further payment, but subject to all other Regulations for regulating the discharge of Vessels at the said wharf.

Any person applying for such License on or after the said 14th of February and before the 1st day of April next, shall be entitled to the same upon paying one-half of such quarterly payments, and such License shall extend and be in force until the 1st day of April next only; and from and after the said 1st day of April no License shall be issued for a less period than one Quarter.

The 20th clause of the said Regulations of the 23rd February, 1861, is hereby annulled, and the following shall be a Regulation in lieu thereof:—

There shall be paid for all Goods, Wares, and Merchandize of every description; and all and every other article (the produce of New Zealand only excepted) the sum of 1s. 6d. per ton weight or measurement, on the same being landed on the Queen-street Wharf out of any Ship or Boat.

The said Regulations of the 28th February, 1861, shall remain in force except as annulled, varied, or altered by these Regulations.

AUCKLAND WHARF LICENSEE.

No. ____ Received from Mr. ____, the sum of £, the payment of which sum entitles the said ____ to haul the (description, name, and tonnage of Vessel) alongside the Queen-street Wharf and discharge thereat (subject to the Regulations for the discharge of Vessels at the said Wharf) for the Quarter ending the ____ day of ____ 186___

TO ARCHITECTS.

COMPETITIVE DESIGNS are required by the Provincial Government of Otago, for a Gaol, an Hospital, and a Lunatic Asylum.

Drawings, &c., will be received at the Office of the Provincial Secretary, until 4 p.m., the second day of March, 1863.

The following Premiums will be given to the successful competitors, viz:—

For the Gaol, 1st Prize, £150; 2nd Prize, £75.
For the Hospital, 1st Prize, £100; 2nd Prize, £50.
For the Lunatic Asylum, 1st Prize, £100; 2nd Prize, £50.

All premiated designs are to become the property of the Government.

Plans of the sites and other particulars may be obtained at the Superintendent’s Office, Auckland.
