PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

WHEREAS by the "Impounding Act, 1856," of the Local Legislature of the Province of Auckland it is amongst other things enacted that it shall not be lawful for any person to suffer any Cattle belonging to him or under his charge to stray or go about, or to be tethered or depastured, in any highway or public place or unenclosed land within the limits of such of the Towns or Villages in the said Province as the Superintendent thereof shall from time to time by notification in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette declare to be and to come within the operation of the provisions of such Act in respect of Cattle so straying, going about, being tethered or depastured, in such highway or public place, or unenclosed land; and also that in any such Superintendent may from time to time define, and alter, and vary for the purposes of such Act, the limits of such Towns and Villages:

Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby, under and in pursuance of the power vested in me in that behalf by the said Act, notify and declare that the Town of Parnell, in the said Province, shall, from the sixth day of January, 1863, come within the operation of the provisions of the said Act, in respect of such matters as aforesaid, and that the limits thereof for the purposes of such Act shall be the following, until altered or varied as and in manner aforesaid, that is to say: all that portion of the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland known as Parnell, and bounded on the North and North-East by the Waitemata Harbour; on the West by the City of Auckland; on the South-West by the Government Domain or Auckland Park; from the artillery watering place, by Colonel Matson’s gully, to Whitson’s Brewery road; on the South by Whitson’s Brewery road; on the East by the Epsom road to the Grammar School; again on the South by the Epsom road to the Grammar School; against on the South by the road leading from the Grammar School to the most western salt water creek in Hobson’s Bay, and by the said creek to the Waitemata Harbour.

Warrant and Instructions delegating to the Superintendent of Auckland certain powers under the Secondary Punishment Act, 1854.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight, Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

WHEREAS by "The Secondary Punishment Act, 1854," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor by instructions under his hand to delegate to the Superintendent of any Province on such terms and conditions, and subject to such limitations and restrictions as may be prescribed in that behalf, all or any of the powers thereinbefore reserved to the Governor by the ninth clause of the said Act:

And whereas it appears to me expedient to delegate to Superintendents of Provinces the power of prescribing the roads and other Public Works upon which the persons in confinement as aforesaid may be employed from time to time:

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the said Colony, do hereby delegate to Robert Graham, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, and to his successors in Office, the power specially above set forth, to be exercised by him within the said Province during pleasure.

Given under my hand at the Government House at Auckland, this sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

HEREBY notify that the undermentioned gentlemen have been elected Members of the Board of Works for the City of Auckland, in lieu of those retired by ballot, in accordance with the provisions of the "Town Boards Act, 1862."
