PROCLAMATION.

By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed in the eighth year of the Reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, by the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the then Legislative Council thereof, intituled "An Ordinance to empower Owners and Occupiers of Land within certain Districts to repair and maintain Highways and Public Works within the same, and to make and levy rates for defraying the expenses thereof," it was enacted that if the major part of the persons qualified to become Electors, in the manner in the said Ordinance mentioned, within any District, should apply in writing to His Excellency the Governor, distinctly setting forth the boundaries of such District, and requesting that the same might be declared to be a District within the provisions of the said Ordinance, His Excellency might by Proclamation declare the same to be such District, and by such Proclamation should prescribe a period within which all claims to the right of voting at the election of the first and every succeeding Board of Commissioners for such District should be made: And whereas by an Act passed by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, intituled "An Act to transfer certain powers and duties from the Governor and Colonial Treasurer of New Zealand to the Superintendent and the Provincial Treasurer of the Province of Auckland respectively," it was amongst other things enacted that all the acts authorized or required to be performed by and all the powers given to the said Governor by the said recited Ordinance should thenceforth cease to be performed by the said Governor, and should and might thereafter be performed and exercised as fully and effectually for all intents and purposes within the Province of Auckland by the Superintendent thereof as the same could before the passing of the said Act be done and exercised by the said Governor: And whereas the major part of the persons entitled to become Electors within the District hereinafter set forth have applied to me in manner in the said Ordinance directed, to declare the same to be a District within the provisions of the said Ordinance:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said powers and authorities in me vested, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby proclaim and declare that all that block of land in the Parish of Waitakerei, in the County of Eden, known as Lots Nos. 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, and 101 in the said Parish of Waitakerei, also all roads, bounding or lying between any of the said lots, shall form a District within the provisions of the said Ordinance, to be called the District of Waitakerei East, and that the period within which all claims to the right of voting at the election of the first and every succeeding Board of Commissioners for such District shall be made, shall be between the first and the thirty-first day of March in each and every year.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent in that behalf, I hereby notify for public information, that all those pieces or parcels of land enumerated in the Schedule hereunder written, will be offered for sale at the Waste Lands Office, at Auckland, on the twentieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, as General Country Land.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, in the said Province, this fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
