Vol. IX.] AUCKLAND, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1861. [No. 21.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
WHEREAS by virtue of a Writ to him directed, and dated the 14th day of September last, the Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Auckland caused an Election to be made by the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, in the manner and form by Law prescribed, of a legally qualified person to serve as Superintendent for the said Province: And whereas the said Principal Returning Officer did, on the fourth day of November, instant, publicly declare that at the said election, I, John Williamson, had the greatest number of votes and was duly elected to be the Superintendent: Now, therefore, I, the said John Williamson, do hereby notify and declare, that I have assumed the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland accordingly, and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assisting me therein.

NOTICE.
The attention of Sheep-owners is called to the 16th clause of the “Sheep Act:”
“All sheep above the age of four months, within the said Province, shall be branded on the wool thereof with the registered sheep-brands (and no other) of the owners thereof respectively, such brands not being, respectively, less than four inches in length and of a proportionate breadth, and to be at all times legible; and if such sheep shall not be so branded, the owner thereof shall forfeit and pay, for and in respect of every sheep not being so branded, any sum not exceeding one shilling.”
