TO CIVIL ENGINEERS AND OTHERS.
CITY WATER WORKS.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, November 28th, 1859.
IT having been found by observation that the Springs in the Government Domain, from which it was at one time supposed that a sufficiency of Water for the City could be obtained, are inadequate, it has become necessary to seek a supply elsewhere.
The attention of Civil Engineers and others is invited to this question, and a prize of Fifty Pounds is hereby offered for such Report, as shall be adjudged to be the best, upon the mode of obtaining a sufficient supply of water for the City of Auckland.
Each Report must be accompanied by explanatory drawings, and a probable estimate of the cost of the whole of the Works (exclusively of laying down the pipes in the City), and must be delivered at this office on or before MONDAY the 9th day of January next.

Superintendent.
