PROCLAMATION.
By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
By virtue and in pursuance of the powers vested in me by an Act of the General Assembly, entitled "The Local Posts Act, 1856," I do hereby proclaim and declare that the rate of postage to be charged upon every letter weighing one-half of an ounce and under, which shall be transmitted by any post or postal communication which shall be established under the provisions of the said Act, shall be an uniform rate of 2d., and an additional rate of 2d. for every additional half ounce or fractional part of half an ounce.
Given under my hand at Auckland, this 12th day of February, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.

LOCAL POSTS.
Post-office, Auckland,
11th February, 1857.
Mails for Onehunga, Otahuhu, Papakura, Wairoa, Drury, and Waiuku, will be despatched from this office every Wednesday and Saturday morning, at half-past seven o’clock, and for St. John’s College, Panmure, Howick, and Turanga Creek, on the same mornings, at a quarter-past ten. The return mails from all the above-named places will be delivered at this office every Monday and Thursday, at 2h. 30m. p.m.

POSTAGE STAMPS NOT AVAILABLE
FOR PAYMENT OF LOCAL POSTAGE.

11th February, 1857.
The Local Posts Act, 1856, will come into operation on Saturday next, the 14th instant, and on and from that date letters for transmission and delivery within the Province of Auckland may be sent either Paid or Unpaid, but notice is hereby given that the local postage of all Paid letters must be prepaid with money, and not by means of the New Zealand Postage Stamps at present in use.
