NOTICE.
Province of Auckland, to wit.
WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of John Logan Campbell, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, bearing date the twenty-first day of February one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, hath been directed to me, Theodore Minet Haultain, Esq., as Returning Officer for the Pensioner Settlements, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Voters duly qualified for that purpose freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, "one person" to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the Province of Auckland, for the Electoral District called and known by the name of the Pensioner Settlements, in place of William Powditch, Esquire, resigned. Now therefore, I the said Theodore Minet Haultain, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Pensioner Settlements, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Pensioner Settlements will be holden at the Court House, Onehunga, on Monday, the tenth day of March next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council, for the Pensioner Settlements aforesaid. And in the event of a poll being demanded by or on behalf of the candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place on Tuesday, the eleventh day of March next, at such Court-house aforesaid, the voting to commence at any time after nine o'clock in the forenoon of the said day, and to close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the same day.
