PROCLAMATION.

By His Honour WILLIAM BROWN, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Imperial Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, passed in the session thereof, holden in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the reign of her present Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," it was amongst other things enacted, that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of any of the Provinces established in the said Colony, under or by virtue of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette, to fix such place or places within the limits of the Province, of which he was Superintendent, and to appoint such times for holding the first and every other Session of the Provincial Council of such Province, as to him it might seem meet, and to alter and vary, from time to time, in manner aforesaid, such times and places as he might judge advisable, and most consistent with general convenience.

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date at Auckland, in the Province of Auckland, and Colony aforesaid, the fifteenth day of the month of March instant, given under my hand, and published in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette on the same day, I, William Brown, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province of Auckland, one of the Provinces aforesaid, did proclaim and declare, pursuant to the powers vested in me in that behalf, by the said Act, that the third Session of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Auckland, should be holden at Auckland aforesaid, and should commence on Monday, the twenty-sixth day of March, now next ensuing.

And whereas it is expedient to revoke and cancel the said Proclamation, and to fix and appoint some other day for the commencement of the said third Session of the said Provincial Council of the Province of Auckland.

Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the said Province of Auckland, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation, and declare the same to be null and void. And I do further proclaim and declare, in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the said Act, that the said third Session of the Provincial Council aforesaid shall be holden at Auckland aforesaid, and shall commence on Monday, the twenty-sixth day of the month of March instant; and the Members of the said Provincial Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.

Given under my hand at Auckland aforesaid, this twenty-fourth day of the month of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

NOTICE.

Superintendent’s Office.
Auckland, 23rd March, 1855.

HIS Honor the Superintendent will meet the Provincial Council at the House of Assembly at 2 o’clock p.m. on Monday next, the 26th March instant, for the purpose of opening the Third Session of the Council.
