PROCLAMATION.
By His Honour WILLIAM BROWN, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
WHEREAS by an Act made and enacted in the Parliament held in the 15th and 16th years of the reign of Her present Majesty, intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” it is amongst other things enacted, that for each of the Provinces established in New Zealand, there shall be a Superintendent to be elected by the persons duly qualified to elect members for the Provincial Council. And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the fifth day of March 1853, made and issued by His Excellency Sir George Grey, Governor-in-Chief and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, it is amongst other things provided that as soon as consistently may be, after the voting for the election of a Superintendent shall have closed, the principal Returning Officer of the capital town of the Province, shall openly declare and publicly notify the name of the person who may have been duly elected at such election by a majority of the voters of the whole Province to be Superintendent thereof. And whereas the principal Returning Officer for the Province of Auckland, did on the 14th March 1855, openly declare and publicly notify, that at the election of a Superintendent for the Province of Auckland, I, William Brown was duly elected by a majority of the voters of the whole Province to be the Superintendent thereof. Now therefore, I do hereby proclaim and declare, that I have assumed the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland accordingly, and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assisting me therein.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act made and passed in the Parliament held in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the Reign of Her present Majesty intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” it is amongst other things enacted, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to fix such place or places within the limits of the Province, and such times for hold the first and every other Session of the Provincial Council as he may think fit. Now, therefore, pursuant to the authority in me vested in that behalf, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, do hereby proclaim and declare that, the third Session of the Provincial Council shall be holden at Auckland, and shall commence on Monday the 26th day of March now next ensuing; and the members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.
Given under my hand, at Auckland, this fifteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.
