NOTICE.

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND, TO WIT.

WHEREAS, a Writ under the hand of ROBERT HENRY WYNYARD, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, the Officer Administering the Government, and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, etc., etc., bearing date the fourteenth day of July, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-four, hath been directed to me, THOMAS BECKHAM, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the City of Auckland, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by Law prescribed, "One Person," to serve as a Member of the House of Representatives for the "City of Auckland," in place of THOMAS HOUGHTON BARTLEY, Esquire, resigned.

Now, therefore, I, the said THOMAS BECKHAM, Esquire, Returning Officer for the City of Auckland, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the City of Auckland will be holden at the Russell Wine Vaults, Shortland-street, Auckland, on TUESDAY, the first day of August, next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person to serve as a Member of the House of Representatives for the City of Auckland, and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such Polling shall take place on FRIDAY, the Fourth day of August next, at the Police Office, Auckland; the Voting to commence at any time after Nine o’clock of the said day, and to close at Four o’clock on the afternoon of the same day.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of THURSDAY, 27th instant, from parties desirous of furnishing one new WHALE BOAT. Particulars of size and construction may be obtained on application. Tenders must be sealed and endorsed, "Tender for Whaleboat."

NORTH SHORE FERRY.

Superintendent’s Office, Auckland,
July 17th, 1854.

TENDERS will be received at this office, until noon of THURSDAY, the 27th inst., for the performance of this service from the 1st July to the 31st December, proximo. Tenders must be sealed and endorsed, "Tenders for North Shore Ferry."
