PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, a Knight Commander of the most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS the Undermentioned Ordinances, enacted by the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, were passed in the 16th year of the Reign of Her present Majesty Queen Victoria, viz.,

An Ordinance to amend the Land Registration Ordinance, and to extend the Operation of the same to the Canterbury Settlement, Session 12, No. 2; and also

An Ordinance for the Naturalization of certain Persons in the Islands of New Zealand, Session 12, No. 4; and also

An Ordinance to provide for the Admission of Barristers, Attorneys, and Proctors, to practise in the Supreme Court, other than those admissible under the Supreme Court Ordinance, Session 12, No. 5:

Which Ordinances having, by one of Her Majesty’s Principal Secretaries of State been laid before the Queen, Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the same:

Now therefore, I the Governor of the Islands of New Zealand do hereby proclaim and make known to all whom it may concern that Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the three before mentioned Ordinances.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand at Auckland, in the Province of Auckland, in the Islands aforesaid, this twenty-seventh day of December, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, a Knight Commander of the most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by an Ordinance passed by the Governor-in-Chief of the New Zealand Islands with the consent of the Legislative Council thereof, intituled “An Ordinance for the Naturalization of certain persons in the Islands of New Zealand,” Session XI., No. 9, it is enacted that all and singular the persons who shall be declared to come within the operation of such Ordinance by any Proclamation to be issued in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor-in-Chief, shall be deemed and taken until the next Session of the General Legislature in the Islands of New Zealand, to be natural born subjects of Her Majesty.

Now therefore, I, the Governor in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said in part recited Ordinance Do hereby proclaim and declare that the persons whose names are underwritten, shall be deemed and taken to be natural born subjects of Her Majesty from the dates set opposite their names, until the next Session of the General Legislature of the Islands of New Zealand, as fully to all intents and purposes as if their names had been inserted in the Schedule annexed to the said Ordinance.

This Proclamation shall take effect from and after the date hereof.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand, at Auckland, in the Islands aforesaid, this twenty-seventh day of December, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-three.
