Wanganui-Waitotara Highway Board.
NOTICE is hereby given that plans, sections, and specifications for the proposed roads hereunder mentioned, together with lists of the lands intersected by such roads, and of the owners, lessees, and occupiers of such lands, are now lying for inspection at the Board Office, Taupo Quay, Wanganui, and that any persons wishing to make any objections or suggestions in respect of such roads, must do so in writing within forty days from this date. The proposed roads are—

One to be called the “Perekuma Road,” commencing at the eastern end of the Waitotara Bridge, and extending to the southern boundary of the Karaka Reserve, where it will terminate for the present.

One to be called the “Oruakainga Road,” commencing at the Great North-Western Road, close to the Nukumaru Hotel, and thence running northwards to the Oruakainga Flat, along which the main line runs westward to a point about two chains beyond the eastern boundary of Section No. 31, and a branch runs eastward to the eastern boundary of Section 18, where they terminate for the present.

One to be called the “Puke Rimu Road,” commencing at the Great North-Western Road, a little to the east of the Okehu Bridge, and running northwards to the southern boundary of Mr. James Moore’s land, where it will terminate for the present; and

One to be called the “Kowhatunui Road,” commencing at the western line, at the eastern boundary of the Motuhou Native Reserve, and extending northwards across the Kai-Iwi River to the southern boundary of the Kowhatunui Block, where it will terminate for the present.

WITH reference to the public notice of the 20th March, 1874, stating the birds which constitute Native game, and which, pursuant to the proclamation of His Honor the Superintendent of the 19th March, 1874, may be shot, it is hereby notified that the “Quail” therein referred to is the indigenous New Zealand Quail only, and persons are cautioned against shooting, trapping, or destroying the Californian Quail or Australian Quail which have been liberated by the Wellington Acclimatization Society, and others, or their progeny.
