Warrant

WHEREAS it has been notified to me, under the hand of Henry C[lay]and Field, the Presiding Officer at a meeting lately held for the election of a Warden for Ward No. 7 of the Wangaehu Highway District, that Mr. James Findlater was declared duly elected at such meeting as aforesaid: And whereas it has also been certified under the hand of the aforesaid Presiding Officer, Henry C[lay]and Field, that the said James Findlater was, on the 24th of March, declared ousted in the Resident Magistrate’s Court, in Wanganui, under the provisions of the twenty-seventh clause of “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,” of the General Assembly.

I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and appoint that the voters qualified to vote for the election of a Warden for Ward No. 7 of the Wangaehu Highway District, shall meet at the Matarawa Schoolhouse, on Tuesday, the 21st day of April, 1874, at twelve o’clock noon. And I do hereby appoint Henry C[lay]and Field Presiding Officer at such meeting as aforesaid.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, in the Province of Wellington, this thirtieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Wellington, March 30, 1874.

His Honor the Superintendent has appointed a meeting for the election of a Warden for Ward No. 7 of the Wangaehu Highway District, to be held at the Matarawa Schoolhouse, No. 2 Line, on Tuesday, the 21st day of April, 1874, at twelve o’clock noon.

Henry C[lay]and Field has been appointed Presiding Officer at such meeting as aforesaid.

In Gazette, No. 8, of the 25th March, 1874, the name of Major Nathaniel George Morse was stated as the elected member for Ward No. 7 of the Wangaehu Highway District, in mistake for that of Mr. James Findlater.

Sheep Inspector’s Notice

Wellington, March 24, 1874.

NOTICE has been received from the Inspector of Sheep for the Wairarapa and East Coast Districts, that he has granted a clean certificate for the “ewe” and “dry” flocks of Messrs. Buck & Kemble, Powatahi.
