ORDER IN COUNCIL
Appointing District of “Taranaki” under “The Native Districts Regulation Act, 1858.”
G. Grey, Governor.
At the Government House, at Wellington, on the second day of September, 1865.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Native Districts Regulation Act, 1858,” it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to appoint districts for the purposes of the said Act, being districts over which the Native Title shall not for the time being have been extinguished:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby order, appoint, and declare that the territory hereafter described shall be a district for the purposes of the said Act, that is to say:
All territory lying within a boundary line commencing at the mouth of the Waitotara River, thence along that river to its source, thence by a straight line to a point where the boundary of the Taranaki Province joins the Whanganui River, and thence by the boundaries of that Province and the sea coast to the mouth of the Waitotara River.
And doth appoint and declare that the said district shall be called the Native District of Taranaki. And doth declare that this Order shall take effect from and after the second day of September, 1865.

At the Government House, at Wellington, on the second day of September, 1865.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Native Circuit Courts Act, 1858,” it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to appoint districts for the purposes of the said Act, being districts over which the Native Title shall not for the time being have been extinguished:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby order, appoint, and declare that the territory hereafter described shall be a district for the purposes of the said Act:
Waitara South
All that block of land at Taranaki, bounded on the north by the sea; on the east by the Waitara River, from its mouth to the junction of the Manganui River; on the south by a straight line from the junction of the Manganui and Waitara Rivers to Turumungia on the Waiongona River; and on the west by a straight line to the sea at Waitaha, excepting lands within the above-described boundaries held under grants from the Crown.
Omata Block
Bounded on the north by the sea; on the east by the Omata Block, from the sea to where the boundary of the Omata Block is cut by the Native path running between the Patua and Ponakai Ranges, thence by a straight line running between the two above-mentioned ranges till it cuts the Hangatahua River, thence by the Hangatahua to the sea, except the block of land known by the name of the Tataraimaka Block.

NOTICE
NOTICE is hereby given, that a Court will shortly be held at New Plymouth for the purpose of hearing and determining the claims of persons to compensation on account of the taking under the authority of “The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863,” of the blocks of land in the Province of Taranaki hereinbefore described. The day on which the Court will sit will be published in a future Notice.
