WAIWAKAIHO FERRY.

Superintendent's Office,
New Plymouth, 28th July, 1857.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of New Plymouth, intituled, "An Ordinance to establish and regulate Ferries," I, the Superintendent of the Province of New Plymouth, with the approval of the Provincial Council, do hereby revoke the Regulations for the Waiwakaiho Ferry now in force, and issue the following in lieu thereof.

REGULATIONS FOR THE WAIWAKAIHO FERRY.

Ferry Keeper.

The Ferry-keeper or his substitute shall be in constant attendance for the conveyance across the river of passengers, but shall not be required to convey either goods or sheep between dark in the evening and daylight in the morning.

Ferry Boat.

The Ferry-boat shall be properly secured by the Ferry-keeper, and kept in a clean and efficient state for use.

Charges.

The following charges are authorised to be made for the use of this Ferry, and are demandable by the Ferry-keeper or his substitute, previously to the service being performed.

Between Daylight and Dark.

d.
For a single passenger... 4
For more than one, each 2
For every hundred weight of goods 2
For any number of sheep, not exceeding four 4
Ditto exceeding four, per head 1

After Dark and until 10 P.M.

For each passenger ... 6

From 10 P. M. until Daylight.

For each passenger ... 1s. 0

Exemptions.

No charges for the use of the Ferry-boat shall be made to
Mailmen,
Police on duty,
Military on duty.

Penalties.

A penalty not exceeding Forty Shillings will be imposed for each of the following offences:β€”

For the breach of any of the foregoing Regulations by the Ferry-keeper or his substitute.

For interfering with or injuring the Ferry-boat, or the tackle, or other property belonging thereto.

For making use of the Ferry-boat without the cognisance of the Ferry-keeper, or his substitute, be satisfactorily proved.)

Provided that in case the damage to the Ferry-boat, or property thereof, exceed the sum of Forty Shillings, the same shall be recoverable at common law instead of under the Ferries Ordinance, Session 2, No. 6.


NEW LINES OF ROAD.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
New Plymouth, 1st August, 1857.

THE subject of Roads being now under the consideration of the Provincial Government, it is requested that the owners or occupiers of Sections not having practicable lines of road to them will at once forward an application upon the subject to this office; and it is likewise requested that claims for compensation on account of lines of Road being taken through private lands may be forwarded to this office at as early a period as possible.

NEW ROAD.

Superintendent's Office,
New Plymouth, 6th August, 1857.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following line of Road, of the clear width of 40 feet, is now open for Public use.

Bayly Road.β€”Commencing at the Sea Beach, and running between the Wesleyan Mission Station, and Native Reserve No. 1, and between portions of Native Reserve No. 7 and Suburban section No. 8, thence through the said section No. 8 and the said Native Reserve No. 1 to the junction of the said Bayly Road with the Omata Road.
