It is hereby notified that I have granted exemption from Pilotage charges at the ports of Bluff, New River, and Riverton to the lighter United Brothers, so long as the said vessel continues under the command of Captain Angus M’Lean.

SUPREME COURT.

Notice is hereby given that an adjourned sitting of the Supreme Court, for the despatch of Criminal and Civil business, will be held in the Council Hall, Invercargill, on Thursday, 14th January next, at 10 o’clock forenoon, at which time and place all persons under recognizance to appear as Prosecutors, Defendants, or Witnesses, are hereby required to give their attendance.

PROCLAMATION.

Whereas by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Diseased Cattle Act Amendment Act, 1865,” section four, the Governor may, by any Order in Council, from time to time, annul, make void, or alter or vary and make anew any Orders in Council, regulations, appointments, or prohibitory or other declarations, made and published by the Governor, under the authority of the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” or of this Act, or by the Superintendent of any Province, under or in pursuance of any power delegated to him under any of the powers of delegation contained in the said Act. And whereas by section five of the said Amendment Act, “as to regulations, appointments, and prohibitory and other declarations made by Superintendents of Provinces, in pursuance of any power delegated under the powers of delegation contained in the said Act, or this Act, the power of annulling, making void, or altering or varying and making anew any such regulations, appointments, or prohibitory or other declarations, vested in the Governor by this Act, may, from time to time, be delegated by the Governor in Council, by warrant under his hand, to the Superintendent of any Province.”

And whereas the said Governor hath, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, delegated to John Parkin Taylor, Esq., so long as he shall hold the office of Superintendent of the Province of Southland, all the powers which, by the said fifth section of the said Amendment Act, the Governor in Council is authorised so to delegate.

And whereas by Proclamation of date, 6th July, 1868, given under my hand, all cattle are restricted from being imported into Southland. And whereas it was never intended that such Proclamation should restrict or prohibit cattle being brought from Stewart’s Island or the islands in Foveaux Straits into Southland. Now, therefore, I, John Parkin Taylor, by virtue of such powers in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that the restrictions imposed by said Proclamation shall not apply to the removal or importation of cattle from Stewart’s Island or the islands situated in Foveaux Straits into Southland.

The above amended Proclamation shall take effect from and after the date of publication hereof in the “New Zealand Gazette.”

Given under my hand at Invercargill, this twenty-fourth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

Whereas by “The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,” it is enacted that, as soon as conveniently may be after the establishment of a Petty Sessions District, and afterwards from time to time as may be deemed expedient, the Governor shall, by Proclamation in the “New Zealand Gazette,” appoint a meeting of the
