THE following Proclamation by His Excellency the Governor, and the accompanying notification by the Hon. Colonial Secretary, are republished from the "New Zealand Gazette," No. 37, August 6, 1861, for general information.

WARRANT APPOINTING COMMISSIONERS FOR INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF 1862.

His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

TO ALL PERSONS GREETING:

WHEREAS it has been publicly notified that an International Exhibition of Agricultural and Industrial Products will be held at London in the year One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two: And whereas it has been proposed that a collection should be appointed in the several Provinces of the Colony of New Zealand, for the purpose of receiving articles for exhibition at the metropolis of the said Colony, and of forwarding and transmitting the same to London; such garden as may be thought worthy of dispatch in the said International Exhibition, and of communicating with Her Majesty’s Commissioners in England respecting such transmission: Now Know Ye, that I, Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of the said Colony, have thought fit to constitute and appoint, and do by these presents constitute and appoint the persons hereunder mentioned to be Commissioners in the several Provinces respectively, set opposite their names, to devise and carry out the details necessary to facilitate the transmission to London of such articles as may be selected for exhibition at the International Exhibition to be held at London in the year One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

[The following are the names of the Commissioners for the Province of Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury, and Otago.]

Southland—His Honor the Superintendent, John Blacklock, James Alexander Robertson Menzies, Thomas Wylie, and John Topi Patuki, of Stewart’s Island.

And I do by these presents give and grant to the above-named persons, or any two or more of them, in each Province, as herebefore set forth, full power and authority to carry into effect the purposes of this Commission by all lawful ways and means whatsoever; and I do by these presents ordain that the Commissioners shall maintain in force and vigor, and carry out, any rule or more of those shall seem meet to them, and of every order of proceeding in the execution thereof; and directing them to send and transmit such accounts and returns as may be from time to time required, and the same to be not countermanded or revoked without due intimation.

Given under my hand and seal at the Government House at Auckland, this fourth day of August, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
