Note.—The compiler thinks it right to state that a very large proportion of the Replies in Columns 12 and 13 are from persons in the suburbs of Dunedin, the Goldfields Districts, and elsewhere holding small areas of land, who are evidently engaged in other occupations, as well as in the cultivation of their own land. In the Goldfields Districts, these are nearly all miners, occupying small areas in virtue of their Miner's Rights.
