PROVINCE OF OTAGO.

Assent withheld from Bill.

THE following Bill passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled—

"The Port of Otago Marine Board Ordinance, 1863,"

which Bill was reserved for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to withhold his assent to the same.

Appointment of J. C. Crawford as Inspector of Post Offices.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

James Coutts Crawford, Esq.,

to be Inspector of Post Offices for the Colony of New Zealand.

Alterations and Additions to List of Money Order Offices.

THE following notice, issued from the General Post Office at London, is republished for general information.

MONEY ORDER OFFICES.

On the 1st October the following alterations will be made, viz.:

ENGLAND.

  1. Money Order Offices will be opened in London at

    • Postal District.
    • Amwell-street, Pentonville... E.C.
    • Clarendon-road, North... W.
  2. The Money Order Office in Gracechurch-street is abolished.

  3. Money Order Offices will be opened in the Country at

    County Head Office
    Barker-street, Warwick, Birmingham
    Belbroughton, Worcester, Stourbridge
    Anglesea Bryngwran, Holyhead
    Carnforth, Lancaster, Lanchester
    Kent Eastry, Sandwich
    Eld, Stafford, Tamworth
    Fenton, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent
    York Grosmont
    Bedford Harrold, Bedford
    Leicester Ibstock, Ashby-de-la-Zouch
    Warwick Ilmington, Shipston-on-Stour

  1. Money Order Offices will be opened at

    Lanark Bridgend, R. O., Glasgow
    Lanark Gallowgate, R.O., Glasgow
    Lanark Kinning Place, R.O., Glasgow
  2. The Office at "Calton" (Glasgow) is abolished.

IRELAND.

  1. Money Order Offices will be opened at

    County Head Office
    Tyrone Coagh, Belfast
    Cavan Dowra, Enniskillen
    Leitrim Kiltyclogher
    Longford Lanesborough, Roscommon
  2. The Sub-Office at "Greystones" having been made a Head Office, a Money Order Office has also been established at that place.

BANK OF AUSTRALASIA.

A PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight,
Commander of the most honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS it is enacted by the "Bank Paper Currency Act, 1856," that it shall be lawful for the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Government Gazette, from time to time to proclaim and declare that any Banking Company or Copartnership, Incorporated by Her Majesty’s Letters Patent, which, by virtue of such Letters Patent, is empowered to carry on the business of a Banker in New Zealand, and to issue and circulate within the said Colony the Promissory Notes of the Company, payable to bearer on demand, may lawfully issue and circulate such Notes within the said Colony, any Law or Ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, but subject to the provisions and restrictions in such Letters Patent contained.

And Whereas, by Letters Patent passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom, on the Twenty-first day of May, in the Fifth year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William IV, and by certain other Letters Patent passed under the Great Seal as aforesaid, on the Sixteenth day of March, in the Fourth year of the
