HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint Mr. SAMUEL EDWARD GRIMSTONE, to take charge of the Department of the Post Office in this Colony, until further Notice.
With reference to this subject, His Excellency has directed that the Names of the Deputy Post Masters at the various stations, and of the Gentlemen who have consented to receive the Letters for their respective districts, to be notified for general information:
Kororarika: Mr. H. T. Kemp
Waimati: Mr. R. Davis
Hokianga: [Blank]
Coromandel Harbour: Captain Nagle
Port Nicholson: Mr. T. Patch
Auckland: Mr. E. Williams

SHINGLES.
REQUIRED for the Superintendent of Public Works' Department, one hundred and fifty thousand Kauri Shingles, eighteen inches long and four inches wide, to be supplied at the "Waitamuta," on or before the 1st of November, 1840.
Persons wishing to furnish the whole or any part of the above-named Shingles, are requested to forward Sealed Tenders, specifying the price at per thousand, and the quantity they propose supplying to this Office, on Wednesday the 2nd September, 1840, at 12 o'clock.
