999 acres. Nine hundred and ninety nine acres of land, situated on the south east bank of the island of Waiheke, bounded on one side by the Bay Okuhu, on another by land belonging to Mr. Chisholm, on another by the ridge Kumukumu, and on the other by a line from a pohutukawa, to a stake erected by native guide.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Matiu, Te Mapu, Tahu, Tauru, Te Kokohau, Te Whararau, Tamati Waka.

Consideration—One vessel with two masts and all appurtenances, together with a boat.

Case No. 86—Pre-emption certificate, No. 198

John Brigham.

950 acres. Nine hundred and fifty acres of land situated on the north-east bank of Waiheke, bounded on one side by the ridge Kumu Kumu, on another by a line from the said ridge to a place named Kopakakore on the sea shore, and on the other by the sea of Waiheke.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Ruinga Kahukoti, Wiremu Hoete, Raniera Matuiti, Te Kaihe.

Consideration—One boat, sails and all other appurtenances complete, four double guns, two muskets, four canisters of powder, four boxes of gun caps, £10 cash.

Case No. 87—Pre-emption certificate, No. 82

Thomas M’Gauran.

20 acres. Twenty acres of land, situated about sixteen miles from Auckland, at the head of a salt water creek or inlet of the Waitemata River towards its source, and intersected by a fresh water stream, and called by the native chiefs Paremarema.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Tautari, Whanganui.

Consideration—One gun, two pairs trowsers, one coat, and five shillings.

Case No. 88—Pre-emption certificate, No. 171

Robert Thomson.

980 acres. Nine hundred and eighty acres of land, situated on the river Wahu, bounded on one side by land belonging to Mr. Henderson, on two other sides by land belonging to the chief Reweti, and on the other by the river Wahu.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Kawau, Reweti, Hira, Paora.

Consideration—1 boat with oars and sails, 10 blankets, 10 cartouche boxes, 5 boxes, 4 casks powder, 1 bag shot, 1 cloak, £10 cash.

Case No. 89—Pre-emption certificate, No. 154

Robert Thomson.

800 acres. Eight hundred acres of land, situated above the river Wahu, bounded on one side by land belonging to Mr. Thomas Henderson, and on the other by the range of mountains running parallel to the said Mr. Henderson’s line, on the other two sides by Maori land called Horotou.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Kawau, Reweti, Hira, Paora.

Consideration—not stated.

Case No. 90—Pre-emption certificate, No. 209

J. A. Langford and F. Gardiner.

700 acres. Seven hundred acres of land, situated on the left of Lucas Creek, the boundaries as follows: commencing at a kauri tree on the margin of the creek running thence to a fresh creek called Te Horo, and from thence in a westerly direction to the top of the range until it reaches a mark in the ground, and from thence along the top of the said range running north-east to another mark in the ground, and from thence in a line running east by south down the aforesaid kauri tree, on the bank of the creek.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs.

Florence Gardiner and John Alfred Langford.

300 acres. Three hundred acres of land, situated at the head of Lucas Creek, or Okahu Kura, and called Whanau Kawariki, on the river Waitemata, commencing on the west bank of the Okahukura, at a kauri tree from thence by a line running north-west to a mark in the ground from thence to a marked kahaikatea tree, then by a direct line along several marked trees down to a fresh water creek, from thence following the course of the creek until it disembogues into the Okahukura.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs.

Clement Partridge and Joel Samuel Polack.

800 acres. Eight hundred acres of land, situated ten miles or thereabouts from Auckland up the river Waitemata on the left hand side of a creek commonly called “Lucas Creek,” the native name of which is Okahukura and having about 1½ or 2 miles or thereabouts frontage to the creek, and having small runs of water into the said creek known by the native names of Kikitungiao, Te Marama, Kaiaka, &c.; and extending back inland to certain land-marks erected thereon at a suitable distance of from ½ to ¾ of a mile or thereabouts.

Alleged to have been purchased from the native chiefs Haimona, Kaipaka, Paora, Hauraki.

Consideration—5 double barrelled guns, 1 superfine cloak, 11 blankets, 2 casks powder, 2 canisters powder, 2 boxes gun-caps, 1 blue silk vest, 1 vest, 3 dollars.
