PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Edward John
Eyre, Esquire, Lieutenant-Go-
vernor of the Province of New
Munster, in the Islands of New
Zealand, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS the undermentioned Ordi-
nances, enacted by the Lieutenant-
Governor of the Province of New Mun-
ster, with the advice and consent of the Legisla-
tive Council thereof, were passed in the
Twelfth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, viz.—

No. 1. An Ordinance for the Naturaliza-
tion of certain persons in the Province
of New Munster. (10th May, 1849.)

No. 2. An Ordinance to define the quali-
fications and to provide for the exami-
nation in certain cases of Medical Practi-
tioners. (18th May, 1849.)

No. 3. An Ordinance to prevent Horses
and certain other animals from
being suffered to stray or run at large.
(8th June, 1849.)

No. 4. An Ordinance to prevent the ex-
tension of the infectious disease called
the Scab, as well as the disease
called the Influenza or Catarrh, in Sheep or
Lambs. (8th June, 1849.)

Which Ordinances having, in accordance
with the requirements of Clause 11 of the
Provincial Councils Ordinance, been referred
to the Governor-in-Chief, and sanctioned by
His Excellency, have now received the Lieu-
tenant-Governor’s assent.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTE-
NANT-GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that in consequence of the great
expense incurred in printing, the Govern-
ment will only supply copies of the Ordi-
nances gratuitously to the Members of the Ex-
ecucutive and Legislative Councils, and to such
Principal Officers of the Government as may
require the same for the discharge of their
duties; other persons wishing to provide
themselves with the Ordinances in question
may do so upon application at the under-
mentioned place, viz.—

The Colonial Secretary’s Office, Wellington;
The Resident Magistrate’s Office in the
other settlements;
or, where there is no Resident Magistrate,
the Principal Officer of Government, upon
payment of One Shilling per sheet of four
pages.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTE-
NANT-GOVERNOR directs that during the stay of H.M. Steam-
ship Acheron in Port, Captain Stokes will
cause a Flag to be hoisted every day at the
mast head of that vessel, at 7 a.m., which will be hauled down at
8 a.m., mean local time.

During the morning, information will be
received on board from the harbour, and the time will be given once a
week (on the Saturdays) from the Govern-
ment House Flagstaff in the same manner,
as above mentioned.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTE-
NANT-GOVERNOR directs it to be
notified for general information, that for the
future the Signals made at the Signal Sta-
tion at Mount Albert will be repeated from
the Government House Flagstaff for the
benefit of the Town.
