Nelson, March 16, 1876.

THE Superintendent directs it to be notified that
he has refused to grant a lease for Goldmining
purposes of the Crown Lands within the Nelson
South-west Goldfields hereinafter described, viz.:—

CHARLESTON DISTRICT.

  1. A block of land containing four acres, one
    rood, more or less, situated at Fenian Flat.
    Applied for by Patrick O'Brien and Patrick
    Walsh, No. 778.

he has refused to grant a lease for Goldmining
purposes of the blocks of land hereinafter described,
viz.:—

CHARLESTON DISTRICT.

  1. A block of land containing three acres, two
    roods, and thirty perches, more or less,
    situated at the Nine-mile Beach. Applied
    for by Jonathan Harle. No. 251.

  2. A block of land containing twenty-three acres,
    one rood, and thirty-eight perches, more or
    less, situated at the Nine-mile Beach.
    Applied for by John Sullivan. No. 254.

INANGAHUA DISTRICT.

  1. A block of land containing thirteen acres,
    three roods, and twenty-four perches, more
    or less, situated on the north bank of the
    Inangahua, and westward of Reefton.
    Applied for by George Anderson. No. 250.

UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.

THE Undersigned hereby gives notice that he in-
tends to apply to two or more Justices of the
Peace having jurisdiction within the Province of
Nelson, at a sitting to be held on Monday, the 5th
day of June next, at the Court-houses, Richmond, for
an order for stopping up and diverting the under-
mentioned roads; and further, that he will cause
Survey Plans of the roads proposed to be stopped
up and substituted, with Books of Reference and
Estimates, to be deposited on or before the 1st day
of April next, with the Clerk to the Magistrates at
Richmond :—

To stop up a certain road commencing at a point ten
chains from the south-east side of Section 71, and
proceeding for the first ten chains in a northerly
direction, thence for thirty chains in a north-westerly
direction, thence for eighty-four chains north-north-
west, passing through part of Section 71, through
Section 72, and through part of Section 74, and
terminating at the junction of the proposed new road
with the old road.

And to substitute a certain other road commencing at a
public road at a point thirteen chains from the north-
west corner of Section 71, and proceeding north-north-
west for 97 chains, thence north-west for fifteen
chains to the junction with the old road.

The width of the proposed road is one chain.
