Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Colony of New
Zealand, &c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand,
intituled "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by warrant under his hand,
from time to time, to appoint Polling Places
for each Electoral District within or without
the limits thereof, and to appoint any one of
such Polling Places to be the Principal
Polling Place of the district, and all or any
of such Polling Places at any time to abolish,
and to appoint other Polling Places in lieu
thereof:
And whereas by another Act of the General
Assembly intituled "The Provincial Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that, subject to cer-
tain provisions therein contained, every elec-
tion of the Superintendent, or of a Member
of the Provincial Council of a Province, shall
be conducted in the manner prescribed by
"The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,"
aforesaid, and all the provisions of the said
Act shall apply to the elections of Superin-
tendents and Members of Provincial Councils:
And whereas, by "The Provincial Elec-
tions Act, 1858," aforesaid, it is also enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor of
the Colony to delegate to the Superintendent
of any Province the power of appointing and
removing Returning Officers, and also of
appointing and abolishing Polling Places for
the election of the Superintendent, or of
Members of the Provincial Council of such
Province:
And whereas, his Excellency the Gover-
nor of the said Colony did, by warrant under
his hand, bearing date the Third day of
August, 1861, delegate to me the said JOHN
PERRY ROBINSON, as Superintendent of the
Province of Nelson, the above recited powers:
And whereas certain places have heretofore
been appointed Polling Places for the elec-
tion of Members of the Provincial Council:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the
same:
Now, therefore, I, the said JOHN PERRY
ROBINSON, in pursuance of the powers and
authority in me vested as aforesaid, do hereby
abolish the Polling Places heretofore ap-
pointed for the election of Members of the
Provincial Council of the Province of Nelson,
and do hereby appoint in lieu thereof the fol-
