February 22, 1864.

IN pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf by a Commission given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, and bearing date the 5th day of September, 1863, I hereby appoint the following Gentlemen to be a COMMITTEE for the Province of Nelson, for the purpose of encouraging the production of articles to be exhibited at the INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION to be held at DUNEDIN, in the Province of Otago, in the year 1865, viz:—

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
