IN accordance with Clause xxix. of
"The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is hereby notified that it is the intention of
his Honor the Superintendent to issue, at
the expiration of two months from this
date, by virtue of the powers delegated to
him in that behalf, a Gold Mining Lease
of the undermentioned Block of Land,
within the limits of the Queen Charlotte
Sound Gold Field, to—

CHARLES JAMES GREENLAW, RICHARD
NICHOLLS, and CHARLES HENRY
TURNER,
under the name or style of
"The Golden Point Gold Mining
Company." Area of land: 5 acres,
situate at Kaipapa Bay, and adjoining Section 28, District
of Queen Charlotte Sound.

Notice to Mariners entering the Port
of Picton.

ON and after the 24th January, 1873,
the Light on the Old Wharf at
Picton will be discontinued, and a Red
Light will be exhibited on the end of the
New Wharf from sunset to sunrise.

THE following Notice of a Bonus
offered for the encouragement of
certain Colonial Industries is published at
the request of the Colonial Government
for general information.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 18th November, 1872.

IN compliance with a Resolution of the House
of Representatives, passed on 22nd October,
1872, a Bonus is hereby offered for the encouragement of certain Colonial Industries,
namely:—

Iron.—Bonus of £5,000.
For the production in New Zealand of 1,000
tons weight of Pig Iron, of marketable quality.

Conditions:

  1. The bonus not to be given for any quantity
    less than 100 tons.
  2. Notice of the intention to erect Iron Works
    and claim the bonus must be given to the
    Colonial Secretary, before 31st December,
  3. The bonus must be claimed before the 30th
    June, 1875.
  4. In the event of more than one claimant
    giving such notice, not more than seven-tenths
    of the bonus may be claimed by the first
    producer, and not more than three-tenths by the
    second producer; but if only one claimant
    becomes a producer on the above conditions, he
    may claim the whole of the bonus.
  5. The iron in respect of which any bonus is
    claimed will be examined by an officer to be
    appointed by the Government, who may require
    the production of bona fide accounts of sales of
    quantities not less than 100 tons weight, showing
    that such iron has been sold at a fair market
    price as Pig Iron.

Steel.—Bonus of £1,000.
For the production in New Zealand of 100
tons weight of marketable Steel from Magnetic
or Titaniferous Iron Sand or Iron Ore.

Conditions:

  1. Notice must be given to the Colonial Secretary
    of the intention to claim this bonus before
    the 30th June, 1873.
  2. The claim for payment of the bonus must
    be made before the 30th June, 1874.
