APPLICATION for DEPASTURING LICENSE, in accordance with the Land Regulations of the 1st July, 1856, received by the COMMISSIONER of CROWN LANDS, on the 17th day of June, 1862 :-
Robert Woodgate. District—Queen Charlotte Sound.
Boundaries — North by Gore’s Harbour and Cook Straits; East by Cook Straits; South by Queen Charlotte Sound and Endeavour Inlet; West by the North-eastern boundary of Robert Blaymire’s application.
Estimated Extent—Under 10,000 Acres.
Deposit Paid—£15.

EDUCATION RATE.
PURSUANT to the provisions of the Education Act, 1861, I hereby notify that the ANNUAL RATE, imposed by the said Act upon all householders residing within the various Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on TUESDAY, the 29th July, and that the same will be received at the following places, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., namely :-
Picton—School House, by Mr. T. Philpotts.
Blenheim—School House, by Mr. J. White.
Renwick—School House, by Mr. W. Moore.
Wairau Valley—School House, by Mr. F. Bell.
Spring Creek—Willow Glen, by Mr. W. Soper.

Section 2 of Education Act, 1861, is published for general information—
II. For raising the necessary funds for establishing and maintaining District National Schools, and for otherwise carrying out the provisions hereof, there shall be levied yearly, upon every householder in each district established under the authority of this act, a uniform rate of twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of 7 and 14 years: Provided always that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this act, nor for any child attending a school not established under this act, nor for any in respect of whom such person shall produce to the collector a certificate, signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended such school during the three months previous to the levying of the rate.
